help support the msu crew club
The Michigan State University Crew Club relies on fundraising and the generosity of our Alumni, neighbors and supporters for much of the capital needed to maintain its fleet of rowing shells, coaching launches and safety equipment. The club's operating expenses are largely self-funded through member dues and fundraising, with university funding comprising less than 5% of the annual operating budget. The Crew Club is registered as a Club Sport within the Department of Student Life, is not associated with the Athletic Department and is not eligible to receive funding from MSU Athletics. The Crew Club is dedicated to making sure that the financial obligations of club membership are not a barrier to participation in the Club and strives to maintain dues at an affordable level, while also maintaining a competitive fleet and an adequately compensated coaching staff.
There are several ways to support the Crew Club and its members:
YOU CAN SPONSOR A ROWER IN THE ANNUAL
MILLION METER CHALLENGE
MILLION METER CHALLENGE
The annual Million Meter Challenge is held every year on MLK weekend. Rowers are challenged to collectively "row" 1,000,000 meters on ergs. Supporting this fun event helps offset the dues of each rower you sponsor.
YOU CAN HIRE CREW CLUB MEMBERS THROUGH OUR
RENT-A-ROWER PROGRAM
RENT-A-ROWER PROGRAM
The Rent-A-Rower program is an excellent way to support to the Crew Club.
You can hire MSU Crew Club’s rowers to work on about just about anything. Your contribution goes to support the club and offset the dues of each rower you hire.

You can donate to the Crew Club through our Alumni Organization:
The Red Cedar Rowing Foundation was created for the specific purpose of benefiting the MSU Crew Club. Donations made to the RCRF go towards purchasing items such as oars, boats, launches, and other tangible goods that otherwise are not paid for directly by MSU Crew Club members' yearly dues. It is the Red Cedar Foundation's goal to lessen the financial burden that current club members face in hopes of creating a strong foundation for the future growth of the club. The Red Cedar Rowing Foundation is a 501c(3) tax exempt organization. All donations made to RCRF are tax deductible and go towards benefiting the members of the Michigan State University Crew Club.
