Bryan Pape has been Head Coach of the MSU Club Crew since the Fall of 2015. Prior to the MSU Crew Club, Bryan graduated from the Institute for Rowing Leadership and spent two years as the Freshman/Novice Coach at Boston College. During his time at Boston College the freshmen won the New England Championship Men’s Novice 8+ in 2014 and contributed to BC’s winning of the New England Championship Men’s Team Point Trophy in 2014 and 2015. In addition to Boston College, Bryan was an assistant coach with the 2015 US Senior Light Men’s 8, Fairfield Novice Men, CRI Junior Novice Boys, Norwalk River Rowing Varsity Girls, and Colgate Novice Men. Since graduating from Colgate University in 2008 Bryan has represented the US in both the 2013 Senior Lightweight Men’s 8+ and 2008 Under 23 Heavyweight Men’s 2-.
Head Novice Coach
Todd Gocken began his rowing career as a founding member of Wabash College Crew club in the 1990's. He has rowed competitively at both the Collegiate and Masters' level. Coach Gocken has spent over a decade coaching, contributing his talents to several successful seasons at University of Illinois, Northwestern University, and other collegiate and high school programs throughout the Midwest. Most recently he has served as the Program Director and Head Coach of a community rowing program in Northampton, Massachusetts. Fall of 2017 is his first season coaching the Spartans.
